The Future of Writers' Hour Magazine
Our vision for 2025 and what we could build together.
Dear Writers,
Writers' Hour Magazine began as a conversation between us—a quiet dream about creating a space where writers of all backgrounds could find nourishment and encouragement.
We asked ourselves:
What if we could offer regular sparks of inspiration to help create writing that didn’t exist before?
What if we made it fun (and a little wild!) with weekly contests, tight deadlines, and cash prizes—an exciting, low-pressure way to generate fresh words?
So, we got to work:
We gathered a tiny, talented team, brainstormed prompts, listed dream judges, and committed to publishing twelve prompts over twelve weeks.
Since dreaming up Writers' Hour Magazine in September, we’ve accomplished so much together:
13 prompts sparking creativity and fresh ideas
36 published pieces showcasing incredible talent
1,000+ submissions from writers around the world
$2.5k in prizes awarded to support and celebrate your work
We wanted to build something beautiful—a magazine that didn’t just showcase finished work, but nurtured the process itself. Something that wasn’t just about publication for a few, but about creative wellbeing for all.
We’ve done what we set out to do, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Whether you submitted one piece or twelve, you made this possible. Thank you for trusting us with your words.
Our dream is to continue in 2025. But we need your help.
A Call to Keep This Dream Alive
Writers' Hour Magazine is a labor of love, and like all creative endeavors, it thrives with the support of its community. If our work here has nourished your creative spirit or sparked something new within you, we invite you to help us continue this journey.
Starting today, we’re offering paid subscriptions as a way to support this project. But here’s what won’t change: right now, contests remain free for everyone to access.
If you would like to see this Magazine and Weekly Contests continue, please consider supporting it as a paid subscriber:
Why paid subscriptions?
Most writing contests charge submission fees to remain sustainable. Our aim is to keep Writers’ Hour Magazine contests free to submit. Becoming a paid subscriber is simply a way to show your support and help us sustain and grow this creative endeavor.
Our goal: 100 paying subscribers by January 12, when our next prompt drops. Can you help us get there? Your support helps ensure Writers' Hour Magazine can continue to flourish. We’re thrilled to have 7 paying subscribers already—thank you for being the first to support this dream!
And a special thank you to our incredible London Writers’ Salon Members. Your support of the broader LWS initiatives already helps fuel this magazine and its offerings, and we’re so grateful for your community and contribution.

Looking Ahead to 2025
Our dream in 2025 is to continue publish weekly writing contests—each with gorgeous artwork, for cash prize and publication—and keep it as accessible as possible for all.
In the coming year, with your support, we hope to:
Continue our weekly writing contests
Publish quarterly issues with longer submission windows
Publish craft essays and other valuable resources to help you hone your skills
Offer new prizes to celebrate your creativity
Increase prize money
Offer editorial feedback on select submissions
Welcome more guest judges, expanding the voices that help shape our magazine
But most of all, we want to help you write more—more freely, more deeply, more often.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you’ve submitted a piece, shared a prompt with a friend, or read the magazine with an open heart, you’re part of our beginnings.
Our next prompt is set to drop on January 12, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Let’s keep going. Together.
With gratitude,
❤️ Lindsey and Matt
